Georgia
Several months ago, The subject of the Financial Times's "Lunch with the FT" interview was the president of Georgia. Here is the link: "Lunch with the FT: Mikheil Saakashvili". The current conflict with Russia prompted me to re-read it, and this sentence by Gideon Rachman, the FT's foreign affairs columnist, caught my eye:

I found this an interesting article related to the realpolitik drama unfolding in Georgia.
Their president seems like quite a character. 10 (official) billionares in a country that small. huh.
Interesting. One question I have: we have plenty of natural gas here. Could LNG shipped from here to Europe replace a significant amount of the gas the Europeans currently import from Russia?
Good question...somehow I doubt that transatlantic arrangement would be the most practical one for the Europeans, but I'm in no way familiar enough with all the logistics to come up with a worthwhile opinion from the comfort of my armchair. So many variables.
My guess is that in leau of Russia, Europe would first look to Africa for the bulk so called fossil fuels, like China is doing. (the realpolitik behind Darfur is a whole 'nother subject!)
